Re: Was the serpent in the garden Satan?

I believe that the serpent was Satan,
2 Corinthians 11:3
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Sounds reasonable. I have heard arguments, though, that the serpent wasn't Satan, or wasn't necessarily Satan. If I recall, the argument basically says we don't know, because the Bible doesn't say. Rev 12:9 seems to imply it, but it's not explicit.

Since the Bible isn't didactic teaching, and the letters and books were written to other individuals in an ancient culture, much of what we believe is "implied".
