Re: Hurricane Gustav

Isn't there one side of a hurricane that's supposed to be stronger?

The northeast quadrant of the storm is usually the most concentrated wind/water in a hurricane. That's why Katrina devastated Gulfport/Biloxi even though the eye was much further west. The primary source of damage in NoLa was from the levee failure and not from storm surge/wind.

We bought a generator before Fay hit, since we are now in the country on well water, no electricity no water.

We are looking at getting one of the natural gas generators that hooks up to the whole house. Those things are EXPENSIVE!

Re: Hurricane Gustav

We bought a generator after Katrina. It is one that will run several window units and our fridge and freezer. I don't think North Louisiana will be affected that much. But I have never been in North La during a hurricane.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

I bought a generator a year ago. I haven't had to use it yet, but I'm thankful it's sitting in my garage if I ever need it. It runs on gasoline and it's a big one!
