Bandits are shooting right now outside our mission compound...My son Dirlei and son in law cannot get home as they are afraid as bullets are sounding everywhere...
It is so dangerous here...I would say the police on purpose let bandits escape...

It happens all the time here...so we never feel real safe even with all the extra measures we have taken for protection. One of the brothers just went and locked the church.

am back in my office...there were around 30-40 shots in one direction...around 8 in another...we are safe...bandits...this is a very dangerous night in Brazil.
My son and son law was just now able to get back. They were in crossfire between bandits and police..
We are as safe as we can be...electric fence is on...I do have to go out later tonight.
Not all Brazil is this dangerous we just happen to live in a very dangerous village and being a foreigner is a mark against our safety.
We also live within a mile or less of several prisions...the prisioners pay off the guards...and they escape.
It is a different life...
