I'm just sharing something interesting I found while reading the book of Genesis and John today.
In
Genesis 1 we read:
11) And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the
fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, ......
12) And the earth brought forth grass, and
herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind........
Then in
John 12 we read:
23) And Jesus answered them, saying,
The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24) Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die,
it bringeth forth much fruit.
In
John 12:24, Jesus spoke about his death and the result thereof (if He dies He'll bring forth much fruit). In
Genesis 1:11,12 we're told the herb & fruit yield seeds, and when these seeds flourish, their attributes are the same as the tree or herb they originated from.
Now Jesus said through his death, seeds would flourish, and when understanding Genesis, seeds are in the likeness of their originator, in this instance being Jesus.
Now, understanding, we, a seed, originating from Jesus and supposing to flourish in his likeness, here are some thoughts to ponder:
Would Jesus do what you've been doing, or would he take a different approach? How far have you strayed from being "after his kind"?
