Actually it would probably cost ALOT more at a daycare center. At least in our area it would.
I do home daycare. I charge $2.25 per hour, per child. Except for one family. With that family I have an agreement for $20 per day. If the baby is here for 10 hours, it is still $20. But if she is only here for 5 hours, it is still $20. That is at the parent's request. They actually want to pay me more than that, but that's enough. I don't need more.
The going rate in this area for HOME daycare is $2.25-2.50 per hour per child. Daycare centers are getting alot more than that. They are averaging about $150-175 per week per child for full time care.
I don't charge when the kids aren't here for any reason. Daycare centers don't give you that perk. They charge whether you are there or not.
I also provide breakfast (if they need it) as well as lunch and an after-school snack. No extra charge.
If babies are in diapers, the parents bring the diapers, wipes and a set of extra clothing to leave here. I do not buy any of those. And they also provide the formula and the baby food. Once they're on people food, I will take over.
I've done this for the past 23 years, so I have lots of experience
