Motorcylce drivers out there???
I am not a bike owner and infact the thought of driving one kinda scares me. I have seen many, many people get really hurt having been on a motorcycle. Due to my long commute to work and gas I have been thinking of looking into a bike though I still might not pull the trigger. Let me know what you think and how you feel about that stuff. Here is a bike I thought about getting if I were to purchase one.

Yea I have seen one of those on the streets pretty cool. Just have to watch the other person in the car and pay attention to your surrondings at all times my dad rides and I have rode with him on the back. I will just stay in my car cause me and people have trust issues and I don't want to have trust issues with other people and be on a bike it is hard enough these days to watch for people in cars multitasking tring not to get hit in a car.

JTullock,
If you think you want to get one I suggest you take the MSF (motorcycle foundation) basic course.
It only cost about $150 and they provide the 250cc bikes you train on. You not only learn very valuable principles of riding but it is a good chance for you to see how comfortable you feel on a motorcycle.
The course starts on a Friday after work then continues all day Saturday and Sunday. You gradulate Sunday afternoon assuming you pass the riding and written tests!
It is a lot of fun and educational. In most states you also get an insurance discount for having passed this course. In TN you also get to skip the motorcycle test when you go to get your motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license. You just show them your diploma and they add the endorsement.
I had ridden motorcycles off and on all my life when I took this course and learned a lot from it I had never known. I wish I had taken it years earlier. I took what I learned and taught it to my son and the day he bought his first new motorcycle one of the things he learned probably saved his life.

I saw one of those a week ago. It is no safer than a traditional bike. It takes a lot of motorcycle miles at 55 mpg to save enough to pay for a vehicle, depreciation, insurance and other costs. A harley has extremely low depreciation. a few other models do also.
After 150,000 miles you would be breaking even.

However you should know that if you want to ride a motorcycle to save money you need to stick to 800cc or below. A 400cc scooter will go 80mph and get you around 65 mpg. A 800cc bike will get you around 50 mpg. My 1300cc Honda VTX S only gets around 40 mpg. My mpg is only about 5 mpg more than you can get in a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic.

My son is zipping around all over Texas with his buddies on his "crotch rocket"! I am not happy about it! 
Any given weekend they go to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Galveston, etc.

I have seen this one too. Thanks for the info about the classes. I will look into that too. Not too sure if I will get one cause of money is tight you know. But we will see.

The first time I ever heard of one of these, my daughter's then-boyfriend was sitting and talking to Eddie and was telling him he wanted a "crotch rocket". I almost fell over. I thought it was something nasty and here he was discussing it with his girlfriend's dad!!
