" Jehovah-jireh - The Lord Sees "
Gen 22:7 And Isaac spoke unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
Isaac was needing to see the substance of the sacrifice
Gen 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Abraham believed that GOD was watching him carry out the command
He also believed that what he was doing was GOD'S plan
In the New Testament it mentions that Abraham believed that if he killed Isaac that GOD would raise him from the dead because GOD had toldhim that through Isaac the seed would be called
Abraham believed GOD saw and would take care of the whole situation
Gen 22:9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
Gen 22:10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
No hesitation seen here as Abraham raised the knife and was willing to kill Isaac
Abraham did not say to Isaac that GOD was going to put a lamb in his place
He believed that Isaac was the sacrifice and simply believed GOD
Gen 22:11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
Gen 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Abraham's belief assured him that GOD saw everything
Gen 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Notice it says in Isaac's stead or in Isaac's place
Abraham did not go up the mountain looking for a ram , he went to offer the promise of GOD !
Gen 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
This is the definition of the term Jehovah -jireh " In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen "
Or simply put " GOD sees "
Sees what - my belief , my situation, my circumstance
It is like the story " Hinds Feet On High Places "
The shepherd asks " Do you believe I would trick you ? "
The easy answer would be of course not but Much Afraid's answer was this " Whether I believe you would trick me or not doesn't matter , all I know is that You said it and I believe You and even if You tricked me I would not care because I believe in You no matter what ! "
Awesome faith does not say " What's the catch , or Are YOU sure ? "
It says only " I believe !! "
Phi 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
HE sees your need and is totally aware of your heart's condition
He is still Jehovah-jireh " In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen "
We are on the spiritual mount where the promise will be sacrificed
And in the midst of the willingness of us to sacrifice the most precious part of ourselves , GOD will provide for HIMSELF the sacrifice
Take a leap of faith , go out on a limb and if you have to go through it , faith remains and if HE saves you from it the result is the same
Truly HE shall supply all your need according to what HE possesses and not what you possess
I will sacrifice you Isaac knowing that GOD still raises the dead
What is your Isaac today ?
What is the most precious thing you have ?
Raise the knife and slay it and you can live in faith that " The LORD Sees "
