Some of what he said was funny, i.e., the articles he bought his wife for the conference. LOL!
However, he is an older man and used to things being a certain way, which he has been happy with. I don't blame him for what he has said. He has seen a shift in this country and he is not happy with it. As much as I value the talents and calling of women, they can be particularly annoying when they are in anyway coming across as usurping a man's authority.
And as Sis. Alvear has come across as a godly example of how women are used in ministry, I'm sure she has some stories of strong willed women in place of authority that would have done well to sit down and be in subjection. I sure know I've met a few.
The board of a church I attended had to ask a pastor and his wife to resign because she was bossing everyone around and didn't care how she came across. It was bleeding into the community and that was not a good thing. Men don't like that, especially. Had to oust them before she wrecked any more havoc. Goodness!
