FIL & MIL In Hospital

My wife has been nursing her 85 year old father for several months after he had heart valve replacement surgery.

His recovery was going slow but well then a few weeks ago he had two major infections that almost killed him. He had an infection in his lungs and a different kind in his colon. The medicines he needed for each conflicted with each other so it was very difficult to treat. He seemed to recover from that and has had good days and bad days with dizziness causing him to fall sometimes.

He has been very anxious to get back to his home in a nearby state and finally the Dr. released him for my wife to take him home this weekend. The night before he left he exhibited some of the symptoms he had before he was diagnosed with that infection and he fell in the middle of the night while trying to go to the restroom.

Friday he seemed pretty good though and was excited about going home. It is about a 7 hour drive and he was fine until just before they got there he became very ill again. He felt bad yesterday and a few minutes ago my wife called and said that she had gotten a call that an ambulance had been called for him and she is meeting them at the hospital. If it is those infections they have about a 33% mortality rate for someone his age.

Yesterday my mother in law also had to go to the hospital. She is a parapalegic who had some surgery a couple of months ago she has been having issues with and now she has an infection and is going to have to have a second surgery.

My FIL and MIL are divorced but thankfully both live in the same area so both are at the same hospital. Makes it a little easier on my wife.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: FIL & MIL In Hospital

The good news is that my wife's mom and dad's hospital rooms are just two doors apart!

That's an awful lot to deal with, CC1. I'll pray for your wife and her parents too.
