ebooks

anyone have an ebook reader? I'm thinking about a kindle but use my computer for now. I found thousands of free ebooks at thepiratebay.org, plus there is an IRC network channel devoted to sharing ebooks called #bookz. Anyone interested look up IRC networks, undernet.org, #bookz or mIRC software. mIRC software is free and you need it to connect to the undernet network and find the #bookz channel. There are thousands of books available. If you download, you will need winrar to unzip files. Winrar is free at download.com. Any questions pm me or post in this thread. Happy reading!

I have a kindle and love it. You can email to it. I use it for my sermon notes as well.

Yes you can email entire ebooks. mobi format, or pdf and txt and html

It is free to email as well. You get a kindle.com email address. You have to get an Amazon account, free, and set it up to receive from specific email addresses you will use, or else it filters them all so you do not get junk email.

Re: ebooks

You can download the Amazon Kindle ebook reader for PCs here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000426311

It's free! Why spend $135.00 for a reader if you've already got a PC?

Of course the smaller Kindle Reader is handier than lugging your laptop to bed every night, but if all you want to do is to read Kindle books - get the free reader.

One also should be aware of the copyright issues involved with sites like Pirate Bay. My ISP has begun to block many such sites and even filters torrent file transfers.

I have one, too (since Christmas) and I love, love, love it! I've been reading more than ever!

True, and I installed the free reader on both my girls' laptops. I send them books to read from time to time. I can go into my Amazon account and choose which device I want to send books or samples to. It's super easy and convenient.

The advantages are:

1. Portability. It's very lightweight, even with the cover.
2. A screen that isn't backlit. I can read for hours and my eyes don't hurt. Not the case with my laptop.
