Question for UPC or similar attendees
It seems that there are males on this forum who attend UPC or similar type churches, but don't believe in what we call "3 steps," and don't believe in "standards."
I'm curious to know this
Do your wives, daughters, girlfriends share your beliefs?
Do they conform to the church teachings or make a stand for what they believe?
If you are single do you expect your future wife, daughters to conform to the beliefs/standards of the church you attend?

Re: Question for UPC or similar attendees
I'll leave the 3-stepper part of your question alone only because I don't feel like it's something to be discussed. God feeds accordingly and reveals to those who are hungry enough to know what it takes to be saved.
As for the "standards," my wife and daughters have standards. However, although we are part of a UPC-affiliated church, their standards are different than the UPC's definition.
As for conforming to church beliefs, since the church wholly believes in and preaches the principles of holiness, as opposed to the specifics, the specifics actually just fall in place without the coercion from pastoral leadership...

Re: Question for UPC or similar attendees
I am single. Don't plan on taking the plunge. Hypothetics, I wouldn't care if she was upc in appearance. It would matter if that stuff was tied to her salvation. If she was dogmatic, it would nevah work out. I have a friend who disqualified me, LOL, said I have to believe all that stuff. Told her it shouldnt matter if I agree with that or not cos all the rules apply to the women.

Ahhhh, but it does matter since you, as Da Man, need to be there to apply the rod of correction should she begin to question.

No no no. You gotta keep her IN it. Why do you think it is preached so hard? It is for the husbands benefit... to keep her in line.

Re: Question for UPC or similar attendees
I do not believe in 3-steps.
I do not believe in 1-step.
It is a process during which you are either moving towards God or moving away from him.
Insofar as standards, I do not believe that standards save us.
However, I do believe that how we dress, where we go, what we watch, what we read, what our attitude is, do reflect our inward man or woman.
My wife is far more conservative on standards than I am. I am sometimes willing to give people (usually young ladies), a pass on some of their clothing.
She is not...
Just to clarify - I do believe the Acts 2:38 message, but it is just a start, not the end, of Salvation.
