news from our family

Dear Friends in the Homeland:

“O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me…” Ps. 43:3.

I was sitting down in an old rented chair tired and weary in body at our convention. All of a sudden a young man walked up to me and said, “Missionary, do you know me...” I said, yes, I can tell what family you are from, he replied I AM the 5th generation...my eyes filled with tears Thank God that 43 years ago...the gospel was preached in a bandit infested area and here was 5 generations of fruit standing before me. Planted seed that keeps on reproducing.

Speaking of our national convention. I believe it was the best one we have had in many years. An abundance of people and the overflowing spirit of the Lord. New ministers were ordained and new people came to the Lord. It was awesome beyond words. Someone told me over 35 received the Holy Ghost and 6 were baptized.

Brother Alvear felt to ordain Brother Raul Jr Bishop of the work here and national president and Brother Ryan Thompson Vice president. Brother Hugo will continue to be our secretary and Brother Jose Carlos our treasure. We are thankful for these good men of God that are working full speed ahead in the work here.

Was able to be at Pastor Matos special ladies meeting in the Parque church. The services were power packed and the church was filled to capacity. So many precious sisters loving and praising our great God.

This month we were blessed to dedicate one more church in the jungle area of the state of Maranhao and Brother Alvear traveled to the far north state of Ceara for the convention. Brother Alvear also traveled to Maceio for services there. He has not stopped since we have returned.

In Oct. We were able to help Brother Raul Jr and a group make the trip to the state of Bahia for the convention there. Nineteen received the Holy Ghost and 2 were baptized.

The reports coming from our National Pastors are tremendous. Many People are being filled with the Holy Ghost. We know you homeland supporters have much to do with this because you help us go into so many areas. Even though the economic situation in U.S. in not doing so good, people are still willing to sacrifice to see people who they do not even know receive the message of Jesus Christ. Thank you so much.

We have had our 2nd Bible study at a little trinity Pentecostal church. They sent word to us they wanted to know why we baptize in Jesus name. The pastor contacted me asking what they would need to do to be re-baptized! Please help us pray that they will completely understand. They seem so sweet and sincere.

Tonight we are opening a new work in the city of Pedreira. There are at least 15 adults beside the children. We are excited about this.

As many of you know from our son’s letters. They are desperate to build the retaining wall for their tabernacle. We told them that we would try to raise at least 5000 dollars to help them on that tremendous project. If they do not get it up I am afraid that the building will slide. I know the Lord has people He can talk to about our needs. If you would happen to be one of them please earmark your offering to help on retaining wall.

I join with missionary, Alexander Mackay saying, "It is no sacrifice, as some think, to come here as pioneers of Christianity and of civilization. I would not give my position here for all the world. A powerful race has to be won from darkness to light; superstition and idolatry have to be overthrown; men have to be taught to love God and love their neighbour, which means the uprooting of institutions that have lasted for centuries; labour made noble, the slave set free, knowledge imparted, and wisdom implanted; and, above all, that true wisdom taught which alone can elevate man from a brute to a son of God. Who would not willingly engage in such noble work, and consider it the highest honour on earth to be called to do it?" Uganda, Nov. 19th, 1878.

We would like to thank all those that were so kind to us doing our visit to the USA. We are just sorry we did not get to visit all those we had planned to.

Please pray for our safety. We do not mention a lot about the violence that is ever present.

Please continue to pray that the Lord would provide our needed support. We need 10 more churches to take us on so that we can reach our needed support level. Most know it has been rough going for a while now but we are believing for a miracle.

We know we could not do what God has called us to do … without you. Thanks for your faithful prayers. We depend on them!
