Many say they believe he is alive and he is Lord. He means more to them than anything in the world. BUT when it comes down to actually spending time alone with him they treat him like he hardly exists!
Most Christians don't want to talk about prayer life. Neither on the message boards or on the voice forums or anywhere.
Why? Perhaps they feel uncomfortable with what prayer life reveals.
How much time do you spend talking to your friends? Are they more real than Yeshua? How then can we spend several hours
talking to them but when it comes to talking to him we say we love MOST somehow that is different? Is he a person? Does he seek love and fellowship?
Behold I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door I will come in to him and will sup with him and he with me. Rev.3:20
Yes the Lord seeks fellowship with his people. Fellowship with Jesus is what we call prayer. How much should one pray? Depends on how much you love. Depends on how much you want fellowship in the Spirit. The scripture give some guidelines about prayer.
And he cometh to the disciples and findeth them asleep and saith unto Peter, What could you not watch with me for one hour? Matt. 26:41
Here Yeshua reproves the disciples because they could not pray one hour! Yet today if you mention praying for an hour many assume you to be in legalism and bondage! Its not as if the scripture are silent about prayer.
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at THE HOUR OF PRAYER being the ninth hour.
Acts 3:1
In Israel there was a recognized hour of prayer.
How much did Paul pray?
I thank God whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers NIGHT AND DAY.
2 Tim. 1:3
Here we see Paul prayed twice a day.
Pray without ceasing.
1 Thess. 5:17
Here he warns us not to give up praying.
How can we have a closer walk with God?
Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you.
James 4:8
I have found God speaks to me usually when I spend a lot of time with him. After all would you tell your secrets to someone who doesnt take special times to be with you?
God is also especially moved by STRONG PRAYERS, FERVENT PRAYERS.
The effectual FERVENT PRAYER of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:16
Who in the days of his flesh when he had offered up prayers and supplications with STRONG CRYING AND TEARS unto him that was able to save him from death and was heard in that he feared.
Heb. 5:7
Why does God like hot prayer? One reason maybe because it keeps us AWAKE in prayer! If our prayers are so uninteresting that WE FALL ASLEEP how does God feel? It is in prayer MAINLY where I believe one learns to DIE TO THE FLESH.
There is always something else to do! Many concerns come to us as we try to pray. Yes it is a LABOR sometimes to pray through!
Epaphras who is one of you a servant of Christ saluteth you,
ALWAYS LABORING FERVENTLY for you in prayers that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Col. 4:12
If one will crucify flesh by surrendering time to Jesus he will soon find himself in the Spirit! Soon it won't seem like a burden but a joy! As the Spirit is POURED OUT ON YOU and you sense HIS PRESENCE you will be glad you did.
What if I feel nothing and sense nothing? Dont give up! Walk by faith and not by sight. Be patient but unyielding in your resolve to FIND HIM! He will manifest himself to the hungry soul.
Then shall you call upom me and you shall go and pray unto me and I will hearken unto you
And ye shall seek me and find me when ye shall search for me WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
