Good News in Memphis
With all the bad things that have happened in Memphis the past few months, I made an appointment and had a very candid conversation with a man of God who is starting a new work. We talked about evangelism, revival, the needs of the city, the importance of reaching ones neighborhood/mission field . If those in your neighborhood aren't being won and your church appears to be more geared towards heritage and "professional Pentecostals", what is the purpose? The city is going to hell in sin and degradation while we're running aisles talking about the great church we're having.. .....and then, back to the suburbs we go. After talking to this man of God , i left the meeting feeling like someone FINALLY gets it. Until every race and social "class" (from the millionaire to the prostitute) feels they belong, there will be no revival.
Sunday, we attended the first service with about 50 in attendance. I felt the power of God throughout the service.. ...void of agendas. I share the vision of
the pastor for a REAL multicultural church in this city in which constituents do not assimilate but are accepted and used (even in leadership) regardless of race, ethnicity, financial status. Thankful for a revelation to reach the city and KEEP the fish that are caught by making everyone welcome. The Apostolics of Memphis. .......we are here!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Just the word Apostolic shows there is an agenda.

I'm wondering, does DE have any leadership or pastor over him? I'm assuming by under shepherd you mean under shepherd and the Lord is the Shepherd?
