Makes Me Wonder!
There are approximately 15 churches in our city. We have been here as a witness to the One God, Acts 2 message of New Testament salvation for over 50 yrs. The other 14 or so churches without exception, are Trinitarian. Why would they need that many churches if they all believed the same.

They don't. On that point - they do of course, but the same can be said of pretty much any doctrine. Your church and likely a few others believe in tongues... Why have more than one church that belives this?

Bro. Hoover,
We are not the only church that believes in tongues. At least two others that I know of, speak in tongues.

Re: Makes Me Wonder!
I lived in the Tulsa area for many years. I think there are about 25 Oneness churches there. They need so many because there are a.) A lot of people who believe Oneness. and b.) Those people don't always get along with each other so sometimes they start their own church.

Right. That's my point. Sometimes there is more than one church that speaks in tongues. And there are times when more than one church is Trinitarian or Oneness... That does not mean they otherwise agree or that they "all believe the same" as you said in the first post.

Re: Makes Me Wonder!
There are a ton of apostolic (UPC and otherwise) in the whole Phoenix valley. Many of them are quite close to each other. Most are quite different from each other, not just in the type of clientele (saints) but their beliefs.

Phoenix is just plain huge. Some churches are an 80 mile round trip from my house. In these days of high gas prices and crowded freeways, you really have to have a good reason to drive that far for what's going to take 5 gallons of gas in my car for one church service. As it is, the church I go to is just over a 50 mile round trip, but, to be fair, I used to drive that distance every day when I worked out that way. Now I work closer and work is a 22 mile round trip. Like I said, Phoenix is huge.

So I have to ask, what side are you on? We're in East Mesa.

Just east of downtown Mesa. And yeah, there are probably a half-dozen churches closer, but you know, I like this little, small church, even if it is a distance.
