Jesus's Wife manuscript
There is a manuscript that claims "Jesus said... my wife..."
it is just a small piece of paper not a whole document and it looks like parts are missing.
I do not believe Jesus had a wife. But what if he did? Would you have a crisis of faith?

First, I'm skeptical about the authenticity of 99% of these texts.
However...
I believe that Jesus may have very well used this language referring to an individual. However, I'd take it as being a figure of speech. For example, Jesus may very well have called Mary of Magdala His "wife" seeing that she (and his mother) cared for Him and perhaps tended to His temporal needs. He may have called Mary of Magdala His "wife" indicating that she was His bride (in symbolic fashion).
And... if Jesus did have a "wife"... I'd not have a crisis of faith. It wouldn't have been a sin to have a wife. Nor to sire children. He'd still be sinless. However, I believe that the traditional position is that it wouldn't agree with His mission... which was to die to provide atonement. What man would marry a woman, and perhaps raise a family, knowing He came into this world to die???

Re: Jesus's Wife manuscript
To me it sounds like it is a Gnostic text. The document is probably not as old as they think, but it is probably not a modern forgery. The Gnostics pushed this idea.

This agrees with Paul's words:
1Co 7:25-26 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. (26) I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.

Re: Jesus's Wife manuscript
Even if the text was authentic, I would not put much stock on it.
We must remember that there were plenty of false gospels at that time, where Jesus said this or that. The Gospel of Thomas is littered with the phrase "Jesus said" a whole bunch of things that obviously he did not say.
There were false teachers out there making Jesus say things that favored their theological concepts.

This is what I was thinking-- legit old text of falsehood.
Just because something is ancient, it doesn't mean it's true.

Re: Jesus's Wife manuscript
The Gnostics were around during this time. That is why John said if somebody does not believe that Jesus came in the flesh, this is the spirit of antichrist.
1 John 4
2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
3 and every spirit who doesn`t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.
This is what my study bible says anyway.

Didn't the Gnostics deny that Jesus was flesh and blood? Wouldn't this preclude the notion of Jesus being married among the Gnostics?
