If You Have To Wear Make Up To Be Rejected...

Would you wear the make-up and embrace the rejection as part of enduring persecution?

Somewhere there is a sincere Christian, smearing her blush as she wipes the tears from her eyes, wondering why she cannot be used of the Lord to be a Sunday School teacher in the church where she has been filled with the Holy Ghost.

She feels ostracized and she doesn't understand why. She dresses conservatively, she takes care of her temple, she has obeyed all that she has been shown in the Bible but she just doesn't see where wearing make-up is a sin.

She tells her husband that next Sunday she might visit another church.

Her husband tells her, "See I told you that you shouldn't even be trying to go to church! I told you about those hypocrites before you even went out to that church! Do what you want, just don't invite me to be a part of any of Jesus escapades. I figured them out a long time ago!"

I whacked my hair off nearly a year ago because I had an intractable rash/open wound on the back of my neck which would not heal. I even.got a prescription steroid from my doc to try and get rid of it and it would not go away. As I'm also a diabetic, hacing a persistent open wound is an invitation to more serious problems. The hair came offn the wound healed and the rash disappeared.

Now a conservative preacher would have told me to gut it up and accept that as my lot in life, that my hair is that important to my salvation. Even though intellectually I believe the current conservative arguments about hair either have holes in them or reek of superstition, I will admit to being superstitious myself about cutting it off.

In any case,I know that my hair length (short) is going to keep me from any sort of prominent role at church. *shrug* Jesus accepts me as I am and he is who ultimately matters.

It doesn't directly say this. It's what the modern evangelical movement started. That, and the sinners prayer, aka "ask Jesus into your heart," thing.

Nowhere, but interestingly enough, the churchy people with their long robes and haughty attitudes did! And it was all because the 'sinner folk' didn't look like them.
