Is Don Moen Apostolic?

Is Christian Praise and Worship Artist Don Moen of the Apostolic persuasion?

I am told he and his family live and attend church in Nashville.

Not unless he has changed over the years. In one of his songs called "All Creatures Of Our God And King" there is a verse that goes...

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

He also sings "Holy Holy Holy"... one of the verses is...

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

When I watched lectures of his for a class, it didn't seem so. Totally, completely devoted to God and enthralled with worshiping Him, absolutely!

So you don't believe the lyrics that state the Father Son and Spirit are three in one? I thought that was the core of old time Oneness Pentecostal belief.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

This has nothing to do with what I believe or not. I was just answering a question. Moen mentions the trinity...isn't that against what the apostolics believe? At least according to all the posts in previous threads that is the impression I got.. all the talk about "trinnies" (so they are referred as) and such

Re: Is Don Moen Apostolic?

I just want to say...before anyone starts accusing me of attacking the trinity, I want to post here what I wrote in my introduction when I first joined. I don't think many bothering reading the intros of the new members so this is what i wrote...

"I have mostly gone to Trinitarian churches all my life. I never really went around calling myself a Trinitarian. I don't like labels and to be honest I was never really good at explaining it anyway. I believe as the Bible says that there is one God (even if I do not 100% know how it all works). The Bible says it so I believe it. I believe that Jesus is God according to John 1:1 and John 1:14. I love God with all my heart and like I said, I do not completely understand how the Godhead works but I look at it this way....when I get to heaven and if the only one there is Jesus embodying all who God is...then praise Him! When I get to heaven and if I see the Father on the throne and Jesus at His side and the Holy Spirit above them... well praise Him! LOL "

So there you have it.. many will call me a trinitarian but like I said, the Godhead is something that I am still reading, studying and praying about. Do I believe Jesus is God? absolutely.. do I believe the Father is God? of course!! Do I believe the Holy Spirit is God? without a doubt! Do I believe Jesus is the Father? Well that is what I am praying about because that is not as clear to me (I have read all of the verses that were presented in defense of this belief). As I said...I believe all 3 are God, yet I believe there is only one God...that is the part that is hard to explain to people yet I believe it with all my heart. Will I ever fully understand how the Godhead works? I do not know and to be honest I am not sure I am required to 100% understand it.

I hope this helps..although I have read enough posts even before joining this forum to know that anything can turn into a debate so something else that I wrote here may set off a whole other discussion. I hope not though. It is not my intention to offend anyone. I believe we are all at different points in our walk with Jesus..some are more knowledgeable about certain verses than others, but I believe that each walk is personal and is not for anyone else to judge.

By the way...when I answered the question to the original poster, I supposed that when he asked if Moen was Apostolic, I assumed he was referring to Oneness which is why I answered the way I did.

Thank you...I think.. LOL anyway sorry for the long explanation. I have had people accuse me of believing in 3 Gods which I absolutely do not. I just wanted to let it be known what I believe and my inability to explain it makes it more frustrating. LOL
