Him that serveth God
Chapter Nine
Him That Serveth God
And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven
As the dust settles on a reeling earth, and a decimated humanity; the sixth trumpet now turns our attention to another mighty angel. The fact that he comes down from heaven, makes for an interesting footnote here.
John appears to have changed his vantage point…within the confines of the same trumpet judgment. Recall that at the start of this trumpet, he stood near:
The four horns of the golden altar which is before God
But now; we find him on earth, beholding yet another mighty angel descending from heaven. He also hears a voice from heaven, forbidding him to write the words of the seven thunders. And finally, this same voice from heaven tells John to approach the mighty angel, who now stands on the earth.
Strangely, then…at the very next trumpet, John seems to be back in heaven. He records that:
The temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament
And so we wonder; is John shuttling back and forth between heaven and earth? Or…as previously suggested…is John somehow able to see and experience both worlds clearly, at the same time. Almost as if:
The face of the covering
has been removed from John’s eyes, and his ears, and his senses. Indeed, that word which we translate as “revelation”, comes from a root word “apokalupto”, meaning: to take the cover off of.
This mighty angel is clothed with a cloud, with a rainbow upon his head. A remarkable image, because of its history. These two elements…the rainbow and the cloud…first appeared together after the flood of Noah’s day:
I do set my bow in the cloud
A promise from God, to never again destroy the earth with water. This is the angel’s crown and robe. At his great roar, the seven thunders are compelled to utter their voices. His face is as bright as the sun, and he has feet of fire. What a powerful, feared, and holy angel this is. Having administered the Noahic covenant for some four thousand years; he is sent now, at this second woe…the sixth trumpet. And he is only sent after man…though a full one-third of them have been slain…still, will not repent.
The mighty angel begins by swearing…by him that liveth for ever and ever…that at the voice of the seventh angel, there should be time no longer.
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets
And where did we miss such an awesome prophecy, in the books of the prophets? Where in the books…whether overt or hidden…do the prophets speak of the finishing of the mystery of God? The words are not even found in the old testament. Yet the revelation clearly states that the prophets foretold of this great day. And now the mighty angel of the sixth trumpet, foretells it yet again. When the seventh angel sounds, time shall be no longer, and the mystery of God will be finished.
Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not
