Psa 127:1 KJV A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
I always read this verse, and thought of it many times, as we all have, but VAIN never stood out to me as much until lately. VAIN is the state of being self-prideful. When one does something in VAIN, it means they are doing it to exalt themselves.
THAT made the whole verse come alive to me. Whoever builds a house. THEY get the glory when it is finished. They feel pride in their accomplishment. And that is great, unless it is the HOUSE OF THE LORD we're talking about.
How else could one get more glory than to build God's house that is meant to cause people to glorify God, and keeping in one's mind that "I BUILT THAT"? In effect, the glory going to God somewhat goes to the person, at least in the person's own mind.
In all our ways, GOD needs to build the house. God needs to be fully relied upon in faith. Not only does that bring genuine miracles into fruition, but it genuinely glorifies God. The more we depend upon God for things in life and for decisions to be worked out, the more miraculous things happen, and the more he gets glory. Otherwise, we are filled with self-pride and we have a devil in the universe that resulted from self-pride. Go figure.
In everything, let's ask GOD to direct, and then have faith HE WILL DO IT. Refrain from the temptation to just barge through and do what we think is right. WONDERS will take place!
I really think God is trying to train us for that for whatever He has for us in the eternity future. Imagine what we will be doing in the universe after this life is over for God to have brought us through so many lessons in THIS LIFE, teaching us to fully rely upon Him?
