UPCI Weighs In on Immigration Ruling

"Recent Decision of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court

On Monday, November 9, 2015, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a 2-1 ruling against President Obama's executive action known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). Obama's action seeks to end the deportation of select undocumented parents of American born children. Upholding a prior ruling by U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen, the Fifth Circuit Court argued that Obama did not have the lawful authority to implement his proposal. The Supreme Court could choose to hear the case again in 2016, and if they do so, their decision would be final.

If Obama's executive action is not upheld, many attendees and members of the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI), both inside and outside the United States will be affected. Many attendees may face long-term separation from immediate family members, economic difficulties, and other challenges. While the UPCI does not take a position on this issue, it does (1) support the rule of law, (2) acknowledge every individual's right to hold differing opinions in political matters, and (3) extend Christian love and kindness to people of all ethnicities and nationalities.

The fundamental doctrine of the United Pentecostal Church International articulates two deep commitments. The first expresses its beliefs regarding Biblical salvation. The second conveys its dedication to maintaining unity among members. When members of the body of Christ find themselves on different sides of political and legal controversies, they should not allow those disagreements to threaten their unity in Christ. The UPCI encourages its members to remain sensitive to the diverse circumstances of their Christian brothers and sisters when discussing political and legal questions related to immigration policy."

If they accept and encourage "illegal" immigration, they are in the wrong. Families, especially Christians, should obey the LAW!

Well, towards the end it does say they support rule of law. IMO, this is just them trying to promote tolerance and tell the minions they shouldn't allow the immigration debate cause division in churches.

They acknowledged a political reality and I respect their decision to aclnowledge that reality. I also respect their decision to not ultra-spiritualize this situation.

It is a well-balanced statement, released by wise people, with their constituents in mind.

I can appreciate being careful. I live in a huge Hispanic population. I know some that want to take America back to Mexico, make little Mexicos all over the place, and those who refuse to speak English. I also know some that have come here legally, great people, and want the border secured.

We do need to be careful with families in church. The issue can be divisive, especially for the majority who never get involved in politics. It can make them feel pressured and targeted.

If they support rule of law, then I am fine with it. I am pretty busy today after last night's debate, and might not have taken the time to read the text thoroughly.

While that may sound good for now, it would only be a matter of time there would be a cry of unfair of second class type citizens and taxation without representation.
Bottom line, they broke the law and infiltrated this country. I'm sorry for the children, but that's not societies fault nor should society be made to feel guilty nor does society owe them for breaking the law and or not getting in line like all the others. My wife had to get in line and go through the process, so I know what I am talking about.
Without a secure border, and I do mean secure, this will never end.

First thing we must do is secure the border, then have the conversation as to what to do with the illegals.

Employment verification should be actively enforced.

Without borders, we are not a country just as my home without locked doors would soon cease being my home.
