Beatitudes
I taught on the beatitudes at the Seniors centre and the very first Beatitude is,
"Blessed are the poor....
Praise God! I ain't rich, I must be blessed!
..in spirit!"
To be poor in spirit means to be Humble, empty of ones self, devoid of any merit besides Christ for ones redemption.
One Elder said, "if you think you are holy-you're not!"
Do you think that true humility is a rare commodity in the Church today?
It is all about me! Look what I have done!
When in reality, I have just been an unprofitable servant.
Humble people do not fight for their own ways, viewpoints, or even wrongs.
Humility is hard for a Choleric, but it is a necessary Christian Grace, probably the most underrated.
Do you think True Humility is a lost Grace of the Modern Church?
Have there been calls to consecrate, dedicate, not with flashy appeals, but
with old fashioned repentance at an old fashioned altar?
For the record, I feel that humility is something I need to work on.
You?
