God's Knows How To Give His Kids Gifts
Luke 11:13
“ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him”?
I was pondering this verse one day and these are some thoughts that came to my mind. If we who are evil know how to give our children good gifts, then our great, heavenly Father knows even more how to give His kids good gifts, including the Holy Ghost. I was thinking back upon my life and remembering times that God had blessed me. There have been times that He has answered my prayers and provided things that I needed. But also, there have been times when out of the blue he has blessed me.
Did you ever have the occasion to find a gift for someone and because that someone meant a lot to you, you wanted to find the perfect gift? It is such a pleasure to give a gift when you know it is a perfect fit. But there are times when we want to give a gift to someone when we don’t quite know what to give them. Because, we don’t know their favorite color, or their decorating themes, or their preferences. But do you think that the reason God is such a better gift giver could be that it is because He Knows Us! And, he loves us, we mean so much to Him. He’s already died for us, but it seems He just can’t do enough for us! He knows the exact shade of blue that is our favorite, He knows what our favorite candy is, and our favorite cologne. And while we know that God is not as concerned about material things, he does give us gifts from time to time to let us know that he loves, and knows us, and He cares about every facet of our lives.
I remember shopping for a long blue warm dress coat. It was something that I probably could have gotten along without but I really thought I could use one. I had shopped quite a few stores and had not been able to find what I was looking for. I became frustrated, and I just about gave up my search. I don’t even remember praying about the situation. But one day I went to a store that was having a sale. They were handing out cards that you scratch off to see how much percentage off you get. The girl handed the card to me and I scratched it off and got 50%! She was excited because there weren’t very many of those in all the cards that they were passing out. She told me that I could have 50% off anything in the store, including, clearance, and everything! A woman’s dream come true? You bet! Wait, it gets better. So, I go around the store and started looking for things to get at the huge discount and, the girl came running after me. She said , I just talked to my manager and she told me to tell you that because you were the first customer to get the 50 % off, to go and pick out any coat in the store that you would like for free!!!. My mouth opened... she said you can have any one you want, leather and everything. I just didn’t know what to do. Well, yes my first action would be to go and look at the coats, but I was dumbfounded. But, God, I said....I didn’t even pray for a coat, I let myself even get frustrated in the process and I didn’t even ask you to help me. Well, I went to the coat section, and there it was! The coat that I had been shopping for all this time, it had just appeared and it was going to me mine for free. God sure does know how to give gifts.
My Mom, who loves Sun Flowers, they are the flowers that grow tall and big, was going to sleep one night. She was thinking about sunflowers and how she wished she had some. She woke up the next morning and looked out her bedroom window to see the biggest, tallest fullgrown sunflower she had ever seen. There was no way that it could have grown overnight that big, unless the Almighty had gone to work on her behalf and orchestrated it just for her. Out of all the people in the world that had wants and needs God thought it was important to let my Mom know that He knows how to give gifts unto His children.
How about you? Can you think of a time that God just blessed you to let you know he cared?

Great post MrsBOOMM!
Have you ever noticed how we misquote James Chapter 1 Verse 17? Most quote it as Every good and perfect gift is from above....
The verse actually says every good gift AND every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning.
I believe we often overlook the good gifts our father provides us while looking for the perfect... kind of like overlooking an orchid while trying to find a rose!

You are right. We should appreciate all His gifts. We could overlook the orchid while reaching for the rose. Like the kid at Christmas who grabs the toys while not being too excited to get a coat. While the coat will be keeping him warm, the toys will serve their purpose as well but the kid doesn't see the coat with the importance that it has until the day comes that he is out in the cold.
