Where the rubber meets the road...have you seen changes already regarding TV?

I attend a small UPC church in East Texas, and we normally do not record our services in any way. My pastor does not consider himself a great preacher (I don't agree) and is a very humble man. Sooo, given the vote of that last few days..lo and behold, I walk into church today and there's a video camera pointed at the platform!!!!!!!!!! Have you guys seen any changes yet?

(Disclaimer...there was a young preacher ministering to us today who I am sure was/is going to use his sermon on the internet, as he travels abroad frequently...I highly doubt my pastor is going on TV)

I don't think we will see that many changes. Many of our churches can't afford to be on T.V. nor do they particularly want to. What it will do is open doors of opportunity for some who would have had to decline the opportunity otherwise.

I got a phone call from someone who said I should listen to a message on their church's website. The pastor talked about the conference and the ridiculous response of those against the tv resolution. He put his congregation on notice. The sermon isn't posted on the net yet. I'll post the link if and when it becomes available.

It looks like legalism will be dealt with openly from the pulpit. Sounds good to me. We need some balance.

I will be placing an ad on our local cable access station this week.

It will run indefinitely as a bulletin board type ad.

Shouldn't be all that disturbing

I don't know what the fuss is all about. I've seen threads proclaiming doom and gloom. My pastor is working to get this message out to reach the lost. If we do it by a camera and people receive the Holy Ghost, Praise God! Question is how many preachers that don't want a tv finally have a message to preach to their people! Ooops...excuse me, they just found another group to aim their pointless message too! Sorry, these brethern need to pray and find a real message to preach about other than tv!

I think your "disclaimer" may show what's really at work. In the past would your pastor have allowed a visiting preacher to set up a video cam?

Video is a great tool - even without a TV program. Many preachers I know have used it just to watch themselves to catch those things that their wives nag them about (LOL- but true!). My pastor has used video cams for years but doesn't broadcast or stream on the web.

I think he would have, but it's never come up since I've been attending (about 2 yrs). He's a reasonable old chap
