Televangelist Pat Robertson says the devastating earthquake in Haiti resulted from the country's deal with the devil to gain liberation.



"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and the people might not want to talk about it," Robertson said on his Christian Broadcast Network. "They were under the heel of the French ... and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, 'We will serve you, if you get us free from the French.' True story."



So the devil agreed, and the Haitians revolted and kicked the French out, the host of The 700 Club and founder of CBN went on, adding: "But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other."

But really, it's just plain dumb to say that unless God really spoke that. Compassion folks... sheesh.

I think most non-Christians are intelligent enough to realizle Pat does not represent all Christians, they choose to ignore such truth for what ever reason.

Not all Muslims are in league with Osama Bin Laden and I think most folks are intelligent enough to realize that but many choose not to for whatever reason.

Now, it "could" be true, but how would we know? It's easy after the fact to point fingers. But bad things happen to good people and there are a lot of Good people there doing a good work for the Lord

The Judgements of God in the bible were deliberate, forewarned off and were for the purpose of either wiping out evil entirely or bringing people to repentance. Here is the question, what happened (if it did) happened a long time ago. Can anyone say right now the nation was entirely evil?

Are you standing next to the mothers who are weeping over their children who are buried alive? Are you running in their streets of mass histerea? Will you be going home to your warm house tonight?

It's so easy for us to claim such things when it's "Out of sight, out of mind".

Michael, do you have children? A wife? Do you love the souls of suffering men and women, or are they just cannon fodder for your idea of God's judgement?

May God's Mercy be upon these poor people who are suffering beyond our wildest dreams. May our hearts break in two for this tragedy that has fallen upon human beings, and people that God loves.

Sorry if my words seem tough, but I've come from a very abusive church background, where "God's Judgement" was used to deploy dark manipulation. The problem with these kind's of statements, is there no limit to where they can go, and they create devious "Witch Hunts".
