I think the KJV is difficult to understand at times.

Re: Do you find the Bible confusing?

A child has a hard time understanding how broccoli and spinach,
carrots, etc., is good for them. But responsible parents will insist
and train that child to eat it anyway. They should develop a taste
for those things that are good for them, if they continue to eat them.

I can remember not enjoying reading the Bible because I couldn't
understand it. My late father was very big on reading and promoting
the reading and studying of God's Word. Not only reading and studying
the Word, but applying it to daily living. It was a lifestyle. It was a MUST
in our home, church, in our lives. Children learn by example of doing over
and over. By repetition! In time as they mature, there will come under-
standing also.
I can remember the Sunday School children singing:

Read your Bible, pray everyday, pray everyday, pray everday;
Read your Bible, pray everyday and you'll grow, grow, grow!!

The idea was that IF you DIDN"T read your Bible and pray everyday,
you would NOT grow. Then Dad would preach! "There is NO WAY you
can live for God IF you do not Read God's Word". There is NO WAY you
can live for God, IF you never pray". I wanted to live for God. I prayed
and asked God for a desire for His Word. Started reading, (like eating that
spinach, etc) whether I desired or understood it at all. I wanted God to
know I was willing. Didn't happen overnight, but in time I acquired a "taste
or desire" for His Word that was passionate. I wanted to "devour" it all the
time. If we eat a LOT of natural food, we could become physically fat. IF we
eat a LOT of the Word, we could become spiritually "FAT". That's the good
kind. Makes you "fat and flourishing" even in old age. Promises for the aged!

Psalms 92:12-15:

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Sounds awfully good at 69 yrs. old!

Blessings,

Falla39

No, I don't. I do believe there are things I will have better understanding of as I grow in Him, read His Word and just keep walking.

I read something we talk about all the time the other day in Romans 3:25. It simply talked about having "faith in his blood." That hit me so much more powerful than it did even 10 years ago.

Re: Do you find the Bible confusing?

There are some things in the Bible that are hard to understand. Peter said as much about some of Paul's writings.

I look at the Bible as not only something you grow to understand...milk to meat, but also as a treasure that the more you dig into it the more wonderful it becomes.

As a young Christian I use to become easily frustrated because I wanted to know and understand ALL of it at once, but as time has passed I can see it is line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little...so I've learned to be more patient with myself and pray hard for understanding. If we are diligent in sitting at Jesus feet and seeking God in his word and prayer, there is no doubt His Spirit will teach us..

It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord:

Re: Do you find the Bible confusing?

The Bible is a Spiritual book and one needs the Holy Ghost to illuminate our understanding for us to fully get everything that is in it.
One also needs an open mind when reading it.

Re: Do you find the Bible confusing?

I wonder why Mt 28:19 was included and all the talk about father son and holy spirit if God is one person. I think things can be much clearer than they are.

Re: Do you find the Bible confusing?

Why were the versus which show the "thief's on the cross" ever included?

If he was a once-in-a-Universe situation with no one being saved like him before OR since, why was he even mentioned?
