Re: Most Important parts of Christian Living?

Some of the most important ones I can think of at this moment are things like...

turn the other cheek
judge not lest ye be judged
love God
love your neighbor
do unto others as you would have them do unto you
use the oppurtunities and talents that God has given you
always be prepared

But I'm not sure all of these should make it in the top 10...

Re: Most Important parts of Christian Living?

forgiveness
honesty/integrity

I think most everything can be covered by 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you'.

As Jesus said - love God, love your neighbor.

Its strange that honesty is rarely touched upon in the new testament...

Though, we do have one great example of some people being dishonest and God taking their lives for it... Ananais and Saphiria

I don't know if there was any other sin in the new testament that was punished by God as severely

The word honesty itself might not be used, but I think the principles are there. Being "blameless" is mentioned, and you'd have to be pretty honest to be blameless.

1) Tithing to the pastor
2) No short sleeves
3) No pants on women
4) No beards or facial hair on men
5) No cutting of women's hair
6) No long hair on men - and I mean GI haircuts!
7) No short pants on men, young men or little boys
8) Get permission for your vacations from the pastor before hand so you don't have to repent and pray through afterward
9) Speak in tongues every day and especially when you're told to
10) Tithe to the pastor, again

Maybe so... but you would also have to be a whole lot of other things to be blameless also. It just seems to me the new testament barely ever mentions honesty as being important. I'm not saying its not. It is very important. It's just not something the new testament focuses on.

Re: Most Important parts of Christian Living?

Solomon, a very wise man said:
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Jesus said:
37 Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40
