Yo DANNY! I have bad news, bro!

Investigation continues in Saccone’s Pizza fire

By Joshunda Sanders | Monday, July 2, 2007, 07:15 AM

Austin Fire Department officials said Monday morning that a fire that has indefinitely closed Saccone’s Pizza on U.S. 183, a popular place to get New Jersey-style pizza in North Austin, caused $300,000 in damages.

The fire started in the kitchen of the eatery early Sunday morning, AFD spokeswoman Dawn Clopton said, but the cause is still under investigation.

Daniel Saccone, the owner, said someone broke into his restaurant sometime after midnight, stole money “and then torched it.”

The fire at the restaurant at 13812 U.S. 183 also caused smoke and water damage at a nail salon and a vacant storefront in the strip shopping center near RM 620.

Danny boy!

It is truly a sad... SAD day...

The the mecca of NY Pizza in Austin... O how this pains me so!

I may shed a tear... please bow your head with me in a moment of silence!

I'm truly sad for Dan Saccone. I've had a few very pleasant conversations with the man about his business and his saintly pizza. I'll be praying for him and his nearest restaurant to me...

*cough*

Thankfully they have two other restaurants in the area... I'll just have to drive longer to get to them... It's worth it though.

Wow, that is too bad! I know how it is to have to go far to find a good pizza place. In New York State, just about every pizza place you go to is ok. Here in the Atlanta area the places are few and far between.

That sucks! I'm still coming over there in a few weeks. I will drive up on Sunday, July 22 and come back home Wednesday evening.

I could do dinner that Sunday afternoon/evening if that works for you? but where are you gonna take me now that the pizza place is closed?

They got two more restaurants bro. It's ok.

We just won't be able to get it delivered next time you come up. We'll just have to drive a little to get to it.

It's cool.

If not there, we can do Homeslice on South Congress. Another excellent NY pizza place.
