I think she misunderstood Foreverblessed post. Lisa wasn't directing her words to HCM. At least I didn't read it that way.
I was checking around to see if the story on Jackie Kennedy was true about her black hair dye giving her cancer and it appears from several sources that if you use it for a prolonged period of time you will get the type of Cancer that Jackie died from.

There they can find plenty of fault.
I've never understood why some people make it their business to care what people do with their hair. I was at church camp the other night while a woman kept pointing out to me every 5 min who has dyed hair and who doesn't... I listened for a while and almost said "if their hair bothers you, why don't you go color your own". She is greying now that she is pushing 50 and I know she is taking it hard... however, I wish she would leave everyone else alone.
I get sick of people pointing out a liberty that someone might take (such as coloring hair) and gripe about it when they really would like the liberty to do the same.
As for my own hair... now that I am 40, I broke down and did a box thingy at Walmart... I am greying slightly at the temples... I went a shade lighter than my natural color... no one even noticed.... *sigh* I even asked people if they saw anything different... no one noticed.. everyone said it looked like my natural color.. So, so much for hair color not looking natural!!!
The lady complaining to you about others is my pet peeve. It seems to me that when people complain about others, they really wish they could do whatever they are complaining about. Why else would people give a hoot?
none the less. the suggestion that dying hair is more vain than the well accepted practice of dressing very nicely is an odd thing to do.
Yes, but I did not make that suggestion. I don't think there is anything wrong with dressing nice, I do have a problem with dressing extravagantly though. If you could hear some of the "discussions" I have had with "leading ladies" in my church, you would see that . In my "church" women are encouraged to dress "nice" (designer labels, expensive outfits) even if it means we can tell what style of underwear they have on. Women who wear simple outfits, or home-made dresses, and focus on modesty, are looked down on and referred to as FRUMPY, even though they look very nice.
1 Tim 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Not always. My issue is this. If your assembly doesn't have a standard on it, and you want to dye your hair, do it. It is between you and God. I don't agree with it, I think it is vanity. But I do have a BIG problem, when a lady is part of a specific assembly that holds to the belief of not dying the hair, and the women just go off and do what they want to anyways.
In my church, anyone who is in "ministry" of any kind (including the choir) has to sign a paper stating that they agree with specific standards, and as representatives of the church, will uphold them. MANY of the women in my church have taken to dying their hair, despite what they agreed to. One particular lady dyes it so much, that her hair is brittle and looks like straw, and every other month is a different shade of her choice color, and she LIES and says she doesn't dye her hair.
It is fake. Do what you are going to do, but don't be a FAKE.
That is the issue that I have, and it is certainly not because I want to dye my hair. I like it just as God painted it with His brush, shiny ones and all

Very good post Sister. I have no desire to dye my hair either as someone stated prior. I had very black hair when I was young, but because I started graying early, I decided to dye my hair black, as I got more and more gray I was continuously seeing white roots shining through. Then I decided I would go blond and probably not have as many visible roots. Then I realized I had more black hair and I was seeing black roots in just a few days. I finally decided when I was in my late 30's that God knew better than I what was best for me. The natural way is always the easy way. Covering up is never easy, whether it be your gray hair, or covering up for a lie you told. Either way, it is a cover up.
I'm posting a photo of me as a blond. I did all of this when I was in a secular religion. Before I came into truth, and became a new creature in Christ. After repentence old things passed away and behold all things became new. Even my old way of life.
