Oh I understand the psychological conditioning and indoctrination. I came out of it. I was raise UPCI teaching Sunday school in my late teens, youth pastor, to church pastor, with many other titles in between. In other words in ministry for close to 30 years in UPCI.
Yes I understand, I started to question, things in my mid to late twenties and still stayed in UPCI for another 15 some years. Having been out now most of 15 years, I look back and place them in the same category as the likes of Mormonism and Jehovah witnesses. For those that would take that last statement as a knock, don't, I view all Christian churches and organizations in much the same light.
Funny thing is I still attend church, still love to gather with others of like faith. Still believe in God. Still support the church I attend monetarily. And while I may make brass statements like the one above, in a talk forum, I would never personally confront someone in person and say they were weak in faith unless I knew they were searching. To many Christians faith is so weak that if you tore down their house of cards they would loose all faith, and that is never a good thing. I truly take Paul's teaching in
Romans 14 to heart, never to put a stumbling block in the path of a weaker saint.
