Timmy, you owe me. I had to go back back back to figure out what your deal was lol...

By "original" I meant genuine. Sorry. We don't have the originals of anything. Unless we can find the stone tablets, we never will. They are or were destroyed either intentionally or by the sands of time.....

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

"Genuine" in what sense? Accurate copies of the autographs (or accurate "enough", at least)? Or are you talking about pedigree: authorship, etc.?

Genuine in that they are not just copies, but contain interpolations or are outright spurious

Re: Who Was Melchizedek ?

I think he means like the Book of Jasher (for example). We can reasonably conclude that there was a "real" Book of Jasher in antiquity because the author of the Deuteronomist History referred to it. Even if you want to say that the Bible isn't "inspired" it's still reasonable to conclude that this other book still existed at the time it was reported to have.

Subsequently, the book was lost through some means as Prax describes - sands of time or deliberate destruction, who knows. Then suddenly I find that I can get a "Book of Jasher" on ebay; or better yet, you can get it for me as a gift.

Now, where did this thing come from? It is obviously a copy of a copy and so forth. But is it THE Book of Jasher? No. Its pedigree has already been determined to be fraudulant, probably by folks who actually ponied up and bought copies of the scrolls on to be disappointed later.

There was an "original" book and certainly copies and copies of those copies; but that whole family has been lost.
