Antibodies, which act as defenders against disease, are composed of proteins. Hormones, some of which are made from amino acids (the building blocks of protein), regulate many systems in our bodies. These include the regulation of metabolism, digestion, and nutrient absorption, and the concentration of blood glucose. Proteins are also used by our cells to regulate the distribution of water and the movement of nutrients in and out of cells, particularly since proteins are one of the components of cell membranes. Furthermore, proteins are involved in blood clotting, acid-base balance, and visual pigmentation.
Considering we need protein to help our bodies carry out and sustain essential physiological functions, a diet very low in protein is obviously not a good idea. If your diet is insufficient in protein, you could also be deficient in many important vitamins and minerals found in protein-rich foods. Deficiencies could occur in niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, B-12, B-6, iron, zinc, and calcium, among others, depending on what foods are missing from your diet. The effects of prolonged low protein in the diet would eventually manifest themselves as impaired immune function, and irregularities in other bodily functions and systems described above.

If you are a female, I'd recommend eating around 1500 calories/day which will eventually (over time) result in a body weight of approximately 140 lbs. This is a reasonable weight for an average sized woman.
I also recommend eating a diet of mostly lean protein and vegetables.
to burn fat, I'd recommend walking 2 to 5 miles per day. Along with burning fat, walking will strengthen your legs, which will increase your ability to burn fat & calories.

French fries, pizza, hamburgers, tacos, ect. And I can no longer stand it! I have gained more then ten pounds in a single year and I need some good advice.
I can not go on those strange diets that people are always talking about, nor do I want to. And I can't really do the jump around exercises they show on tv but again nor do I want to for it's so immodest!
So could someone just tell me how I can change a bit for the better without seeming like a fool while doing so?
I do a lot of activities with me niece and nephew and I want to be a better example for them, my sister just got back into church and has been filled with the Holy Ghost and I praise the Lord for that, but it seems she has yet to see the light on the damage of fast food she is doing to her kids.
So any help would be wonderful!
Because if it works for me then it could help them, my niece is only 6 but yet is 70 pounds! I don't want her to be made fun of because -due to my sister's work schedule- she is in *shudders at the thought* public school.
So I know her being raised as an apostolic will be one topic for her to face in school, I don't want her to be teased for her weight.
So again any help would be wonderful!
Eat fewer carbohydrates (breads, pastas, sugars, NO JUNK FOOD, cokes, etc) and exercise more (it doesn't have to be aerobics, calisthenics will work just fine: pushups, situps/crunches, dips, etc).
It all comes down to a very simple formula - less calories in, more calories out = burning up fat; more calories in, less calories out = more storing of fat = weight gain.
It really is that simple unless you have a medical condition, in which case you simply need to tweak your diet/exercise routine to match your condition.
All other 'variations' on routines and diets are just for personal preferences. It really is this simple - eat fewer carbs, work out more.
As for being 'immodest' how can you be immodest in your bedroom when nobody else is there? Trust me, Jesus doesn't mind, he's with you 24/7 anyway.

Although the problem is less serious for bulking agents such as Metamucil, misuse and abuse of laxatives can be damaging to your body. It causes numerous problems if misused, such as:
- Painful cramps
- Vomiting
- Increased constipation
- Dependence
- Lazy bowel syndrome, when your digestive system cannot produce a bowel movement without the aid of laxatives.
- Hemorrhoids
Misuse can easily turn into abuse and addiction, which leads to often fatal, irreversible consequences. These consequences are:
- Severe dehydration, which sometimes can lead to death.
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Ulcerated bowel
- Edema, where the body retains extra fluid because of the constant loss of fluid from laxative abuse. This can be sometimes painful.
- Bloody stool
- Unpleasant odor
- Fainting and dizziness
- Loss of vital minerals
- Muscle cramps and spasms
- Permanent inability to expel or control bowel stools. Some people must wear a diaper for the rest of his/her life because of this.
- Kidney damage
- Irregular heartbeat
- Severe electrolyte imbalance. This can cause instant death at any time, and was responsible for the death of Melissa Booth, a bulimic who died from a heart attack. The coroner contributes her death to her abuse of laxatives, along with her obsession with magazines.
Re: Could someone give me some advice on weight lo
alright here is a serious breakdown on how to go about losing weight.
1. cut out sugar! seriously Renda is right sugar is bad.
2. dont eat too much stinking food! (this is my issue by the way). be reasonable in how much you eat.
3. GET OUT OF YOUR HOUSE AND DO SOMETHING. Anything... seriously... walk, run, ride a bike, swim, play baseball, softball, vollyball, basketball, golf, walk nature trails... just DO SOMETHING outside 30 minutes a day. 5 days a week.
presto.... your body will change.
Or you can go to the Dr, tell them you are ADHD and get some ritilin. you will die young but you will lose all kinds of weight.
If you want a healthy but crazy diet, google Larry North and you will find something that really works but will require some lifestyle changes.

Re: Could someone give me some advice on weight lo
you have to remember the two basic rules of health.
1. you cannot out exercise a bad diet
2. you cannot out diet a lack of exercise
yes, you can lose a few pounds with just diet or just exercise, but it will be short lived. most likely, you will gain it back, and then some. also, you aren't losing 20 pounds and then going back to doing what you were doing before. you have to view this as a lifestyle change. once you get to your goal, you're looking at about 50-75% of the effort it took to get there to maintain it.
as far as your diet goes, kill the junk food and get the bulk of your carbs from fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts. keep your protein intake high, but avoid "protein enriched" junk. fish, chicken, lean red meat are where you get your proteins.
as for exercise, if you aren't sweating and out of breath, you aren't exercising. a good 30 minute exercise routine will make you feel like you need a shower. cardio is great, but you have to build muscle mass. you build muscle mass with lifting weights and body weight exercises (push ups, pull ups, squats, etc). don't worry, unless you're in the market for anabolic steroids, you aren't going to get big and bulky. what will happen, though, is that you will gain some muscle mass that will burn calories while you are sleeping, and keep weight off while you are in the maintenance phase after reaching your goal. you should be doing cardio 3 times a week, and lifting weights 2 times a week.
finally, keep your goals realistic. i have cut 20 pounds in under a week for wrestling and judo tournaments, but it goes right back on the day after weigh ins. lasting weight loss happens at the rate of 2-5 pounds per week, depending on your weight. anything more, and you are either just cutting water weight, or you are losing muscle mass.
