God sanctifies us, but we also have to make a conscious effort to depart from sin.

But if we are his Children, adopted as his own, being sanctified.... then we are slaves to righteousness. This is God's gift now working in us, a new creation.
To me, the Scriptures above are clearly distinct from being saved, but are more defined as "how then should we live in light of God's mercy?" (
Rom 12:1)
