Well, yes and no. Bro Schambach (Robert W.), born in 1926, was licensed with the AOG in 51 and joined Bro. Allens minsitry in 1953.. He was Assembly of God until about 1955 (I think) when the AOG ousted A. A. Allen. While I won't go into detail as to why Bro. Allen was dismissed, there was an apparent attempt during that period by the AOG to "reign in" the tent preachers. There was a real competitive edge among them that led some to do and say things that were, well, pretty farfetched. And, some were making bold claims about healings, attendance, "signs and wonders", etc., that they could not or would not substanitate. Bro Jack Coe, Bro. Allens most fierce competitor, was dismissed from the AOG in 1953.
Bro. Schambach left Bro. Allen in 1959 on good terms and started his own evangelistic ministry. Bro. Schambachs wife recently passed away.

Re: Something I thought I would never see.........
Yes, there are a lot of "rules" if you will in the UPC. God did not make these rules, man did. That being said there is a biblical foundation for MOST of the guidelines or standards upheld by the UPC. The bible is very clear that God does not like his children to adorn themselves with jewels or for women to cut their hair. It's in there folks, in more than one place. You'd have to be blind not to see or understand it.
It is not our place to judge what another person should do or not do. If we truly have God where he should be in our lives we will have no desire for things that do not please him. Still it is not a persons place to judge anyone!
The whole men having facial hair or not is a cultural thing and not in the bible. Sports...while that may be your conviction not to attend, do NOT force someone else to share that view. I was raised with the view that it was wrong to attend, but I have always thought that was a lame "rule" and now I think it is even more lame. IMO, and many others, sports are very healthy for people especially kids! Children and adults alike need physical exercise! They also need interaction with other people and sports is a good way to get that. It is great for a persons mental health to be active! It should not however take the place of church.
Ok so that is my rant on this subject. I'm sure there is more I could say, but I am at a loss right now and will spare you all form anymore of my postings.

Well I think it does pertain to the initial posts. It just seemed kind of random at the point it showed up in the thread. Blessings...
