I go to a nontraditional baptist church and I feel the Holy Spirit 10 times more than I ever felt in a pentecostal church. Sometimes I even wonder if maybe I was fooled into thinking I was feeling the Holy Spirit.

Re: See IHOP Teaching Acts 2:38 Salvation
From the IHOP website (" Our Beliefs"):
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ordinance, ritual, work or any other activity on the part of man is required or accepted in order to be saved. This saving grace of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, also sanctifies us by enabling us to do what is pleasing in God's sight in order that we might be progressively conformed to the image of Christ.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit, in whom we are also sealed for the day of redemption. The Holy Spirit regenerates, forever indwells, and graciously equips the Christian for godly living and service. Subsequent to conversion, the Spirit desires to fill, empower, and anoint believers for ministry and witness. We also believe that signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament, are operative today and are designed to testify to the presence of the kingdom and to empower and edify the Church to fulfill its calling and mission.
We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances of the Church to be observed until the time of Christ's return. They are not a means of salvation, but are channels of God's sanctifying grace and blessing to the faithful in Christ Jesus.

Re: See IHOP Teaching Acts 2:38 Salvation
BTW, I don't think that guy even came close to preaching the water and spirit new birth.
And as much as I want to stay away from the hyper gift seeking people like IHOP, I have to give them credit for their worship and prayer. Focused prayer is a great thing and I hope God uses their prayers for his glory.

I think IHOP is a great organization. I know they are truly hungry for miracles and healings, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, although you have to be careful not to fall prey to the health-and-wealth gospel. However, there is a huge difference between IHOP and Benny Hinn.
Paul said, " Earnestly desire the spiritual gifts."

Re: See IHOP Teaching Acts 2:38 Salvation
I've been to IHOP, and I couldn't feel the Holy Spirit there at all. That isn't to say that the Spirit couldn't move on them if they sought after him in spirit and in truth. God just isn't there right now, although I'm sure He's watching.
I do agree with Michael - it is a real shame that there aren't any OP movements like this. And it isn't going to be possible until we shed our Traditions of men and our preconceived notions of what God wants, and search after Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. If you are really searching after Him in that way, those shackles of tradition will fall by the wayside.
And fyi, there isn't going to be a oneness Pentecostal IHOP in your city as long as that big ol' ego is up on your platform running things like he's a king.
I have a feeling that things are changing right now, a deep moving in the spirit world that is part of this upheaval in the UPCI and other organizations. It feels like the beginnings of an avalanche. The real truth seekers are breaking free from traditions on both sides of the spectrum and are searching for God (and this includes people who have left the UPCI as well as people who have not). God doesn't care about whether or not our UPCI grand-daddy said God wants this, or if our Presbyterian grand-mammy said God wants that; he's going to have a real church and a real harvest.
Good times ahead.

Re: See IHOP Teaching Acts 2:38 Salvation
I listened to Mike Bickle's " Encountering Jesus" series a while back about the prophetic history of IHOP. I could hardly believe what I was hearing; it was truly amazing.

The good news is that people can and do change. What we are witnessing is a gradual growth in knowledge by a Charismatic Church. Last year I heard Wes Hall refer to the new birth in terms of Acts 2:38. I noticed a few days later Mike Bickle SEEMED to be cutting him off at his knees and teaching the old traditional Protestant belief.
They have had David Pawson there all last week who teaches Acts 2:38 IS the new birth. That is the context I think of where they are. The teaching on the new birth they have accepted from Pawson is becoming more prevelant. It will take time to work its way through the whole Church but Im confident it will.

Hi Bro,
Kind of odd. You could not feel the Spirit there. I have personally been moved to tears while watching the webstream so many times I could not count.
