Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns

Then Prax, with that idea and thought... we are the temple... You and I are the temple...

Scripture backs this up too... so wherever you go, or wherever I go... we ARE the CHURCH!

1 Cor. 3:16-17 "Know ye not that ye are the TEMPLE OF GOD and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you?, if any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, WHICH TEMPLE YE ARE."

1 Cor. 6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own?"

So.... this discussion about where is the church, Paul has already told us where the church, the temple of God is.... it is in you, and me... it is in each one of us that are bought with a price... (vs. 20) therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

I am the Church. YOU are the church! Our bodies house the temple of the Holy Ghost! Not a church building... not a building made with man's hands...

Our hearts are now the dwelling place, and temple of the Holy Ghost... what an amazing, wonderful, and glorious thing to know that I don't have to go TO a church, but I AM the church, the temple of the Holy Ghost! And where two or three are gathered in my name... I will be there in the midst of them... that means at a prayer meeting, a coffee break, a chance meeting at the grocery store... wherever you are, and you gather in HIS name, He has promised to meet us there...

Now THIS is something to get excited about!

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns

Could it be that if there were no churches, people would find a place to pray. Those who thought they HAD to have a church simply would just say, "We have no church in which to pray". If we don't feel the need or desire to pray, there is something seriously wrong.
If the only time we pray or read/listen, to GOD's WORD is when we go to church, we are in trouble. If we pray daily in our homes, it won't be hard to pray when we go to church. We're not there that long anyway. We need to take time to pray and read God's Word daily, IF we want to grow spiritually strong and healthy.

Yes, we need to go to church. The pastor where we attend calls it an emergency room. ER's need experienced staff to help with those who come in with desperate needs.
If we have to go to church just to repent and pray through so we can make it one more week, etc./or if we are on staff at the ER, if we have to get ready before we can assist with those who come in with an emergency, we don't need to be serving in an ER/church.

Some thoughts!

The ministry is supposed to train people to be christians through the week. Sunday meeting is to perfect the saints.

There's nothing in scripture to support that statement.

I read Ephesians 4:11-13. The role of the ministry is train people to do God's work. Training people builds up the body of Christ and produces mature christians.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns

I personally think that the reason there is not a PRESCRIPTION for where we are to have church is that it is acceptable to have church in my living room, in an NBA arena, in a tent, or a church building. The very foundation of Christian liberty is to not put restrictions on Christians that aren't found in the Bible.

To restrict us to meeting in houses or out in the open is to violate Christian liberty, UNLESS you want to show us specific Scriptures that show otherwise.

I can recall a meeting in an upper room that held 120, meetings in the temple, meetings in synagogues, houses, on the street, etc.
