Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns

I think it was made clear a few pages back this thread is intended to gossip about the Memphis Mess. Glad to see a number of folks not paying attention.

I would be interested in you specifying what posts "a few pages back" made it clear this thread was intended to gossip about the Memphis Mess.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

In my humble opinion, this thread was not started as a gossip mongering station...this news about "the Memphis Mess" is fact.

When someone, anyone takes bold stands against sin, or what they perceive to be sin, but is in reality hiding a life of corruption, they have put their own life on 'Front Street'. This thread didn't do it.

People who make merchandise of the gospel are charlatans...period. While I sincerely pray for his soul salvation, I cannot and will not sympathize or sugarcoat his sin.

Surely no one wants their sin shouted from the housetop, but that is the nature of the beast. He set himself up as a defender of holiness and all the while it was another story behind closed doors.

These things are talked about, and if it weren't the Internet, it would be over coffee at Denny's.

Well, I wasn't paying attention until you bumped the thread.

It isn't your place to comment on what the minister did or didn't do. The situation is more than commenting on din when people judge a Facebook photo.

Really? And why is that? Because I am a woman? Because I am not a preacher? Or because you believe a preacher is untouchable?

I suspect it is the latter, so let me get this straight...

A man can be a low down, dirty rotten scoundrel, deceiving the people God placed in his care, his family, and the rest of the fine folks in his fellowship...

He can condemn others to yon lower regions for cutting their hair while his hands are too dirty for color TV...

And the little people are not allowed to comment?

Oh please!

I have in my hands an IBC Perspectives magazine...in it is a full page ad for a conference that was held at Cal Tab in Indy, Sept. 6-7, 2012...just a few weeks prior to GC.

At the bottom of the page is a picture of one of the Friday speakers... TB...he is listed with Bros. Graham, Bernard, and Mooney for the Friday lineup.

And this is all while he is involved in Lord knows what...but we are not allowed to comment?

Is it any wonder our young people are having a problem with trusting preachers today? It is not the Benny Hinns of this world who are throwing them a curve ball...it is those whom they have known or known of for years who are causing doubt to arise.

We the people...God's people have hidden these things under a bushel and it shouldn't be.

I'm sorry if my straightforward posts on this matter have offended you. I will refrain from doing so, but strongly believe I am right.
