One of the largest churches in my town is a black baptist church. The pastor, from what I was told, was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Spirit in an Apostolic church

We visited a large Baptist church here for a while after our church folded and the pastor and his wife were known to speak in tongues.

He even started having the congregation to kneel at their seats and pray and encouraged them to pray out loud or whatever they felt comfortable with.

Baptist board eases rule on 'tongues'

Good!

I recently heard one of the directors of the "Voices of Mobile" make a statement about "Heavenly language" in a Baptist church. I was shocked.

For some reason this song popped into my mind, had not heard it in years

Shine down your light on me.
Let the people see that in your presence darkness flees.
Father of light, Shine Down on me:
(repeat)

Father of light Shine Down on me.

Verse 1:
There's a land full of glory, in a place where there is no night.
And in that holy city
burns the beacon of everlasting light.
The light that keeps reaching to the people of every land
A love that is longing to fill the heart of every man...

(Refrain)
Shine down your light on me.
Let the people see that in your presence darkness flees.
Father of light, Shine Down on me:
(repeat)

(Instrumental Bridge)
Verse 2:
There's no sun in that city. The father's throne is it's only light.
The lamp of salvation; the hope that is always glowing bright
It scatters the darkenss, swept away by his mightly hand.
Now all the nations can worship,
sing the song of that glorious land.

(Coda
Shine down your light on me.
Let the people see that in your presence darkness flees.
Father of light, Shine Down on me.
(Key change)
Shine down your light on me.
Let the people see that in your presence darkness flees.
Father of light, Shine Down on:

Shine down your light on me.
Let the people see that in your presence darkness flees.
Father of light, Shine Down on:
Father of light, Shine Down on:
Father of light, Shine Down on:
Father of light, Shine Down on me.

Read the post again, Buckwheat. I said that the movement is "WITHIN" the SBC.

Wrong Buckwheat. There is a big movement within the SBC that is embrasing the baptism of the Spirit. They currently believe that tongues are to be used only in private. But none-the-less they are gaining momentum.
My implication was that the movement was growing, not that it had taken over the SBC. Tongues are slowly becoming acceptable with the SBC.

Wasn't Criswell's daughter pentecostal, or was that another urban myth?
