Tell me about it. I got into the discussion here with another poster here on this forum. About how we should just dunk people without saying as much as boo devil boo over a neophyte. They don't believe anyone ever said anything over a neophyte in the New Testament. .

Re: Rules

Rev 2:24 NKJV - (24) "Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden.
Act 15:28 NKJV - (28) For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:

Some people just enjoy adding more burden to the saints. It is like a sport. I gives some sense of higher order godliness.

Many of them that I've come across have their scriptures they stand on to explain their doctrine. Some of them are stretching it or taking verses out of context, but yet they use them.

Re: Rules

Youd be suprised about the people that feel threatened when you tell them that doctrine must be taught from scripture in context. I mean I thought that was just a basic kinda thing.

You can get painted as a trouble maker just for letting that slip and then be the strawman set up mockingly in sermons where the one they are preaching against says,"Ill bet you dont have book for that."

First few times hearing that I thought it was a little odd and then realized it was addressed to those like me as if I was making waves and causing trouble which honestly I wasnt except for leading my family as the Lord led me.

Just turn your brain off, submit and obey unquestioningly I guess.

Oh, being mocked for having a logical mind vs being emotional and responsive like the women in the alters is an especially nice touch.

So much for being fearfully and wonderfully made.

Funny thing is that I never heard the women called out for not being more logical due to being too emotional...guess we only need to err on the side that seems more reactive, responsive and loud...all things that make for good sounding church.

Glad God led us out.

Re: Rules

But when you can take any verse and “apply it” to your life… what context???

Apparently the Mormons, JWs, and Hoover salesmen disagree.
