While I HATE homosexuality as much as most here I also realize that the 'Fred Phelps' tactic is not the way to reach out to them. Recently I've had my eyes open that we must treat them like any other sinner....be their friend, not buddy, and have a personal interest on their eternal destination.

This is indeed very sad.

This deception that has entered into the church that we should not offend anyone by being honest is just that: DECEPTION!

The worrisome and almost untenable thing is that traditionally the Apostolic church has taken a very indignant stand against homosexuality, which in some cases, has included the individuals themselves.

We must find that balance where we can welcome these individuals, and even though it is so difficult, MAKE them feel welcome to the point they do not feel defensive.

I think much of the militant posturing against homosexuality is to make sure the fellas around us KNOW, that we are not homosexuals. We love to scowl and make ugly and mean faces when we talk about this stuff, the same with pornography. We want not only to communicate we take a stand against it, but the most damning insult or indictment for a man is for someone to accuse him of being gay.

It is a difficult dilemma. The opposite end of the pendulum, washing and kissing their feet with acceptance is not the answer either.

We should make them feel welcomed but not comfortable.

Fred Phelps and his daughter Sharon Phelps Roper are hard line Calvinist Predestinationists. Within their modified teaching the earth is ready to be judged and those who are perverts (lesbians, transvestites, transgender, pedophiles, homosexuals, bisexuals) are predestined to await the final judgement. Those soldiers who are in Iraq and who die were predestined to die and henceforth have died in judgement. The Phelps group believes that America has been judged and cannot repent due to God's rejection (everyone except Westboro Baptist in Topeka, Hey! Brother Conn pray those jokers through!) God will soon destroy the planet, but Fred Phelps and his church family will be the only remaining.

Homosexuals are hardcore involved in major perversion, if you do the homework you will find that the majority of serial killers were homosexual perverts. I'm not saying that all who are homosexuals will go on a killing spree what I am saying is that this issue is one that needs to be considered as being extremely serious.

I have no problem with the idea of perversion, and I agree, but to stand a just call names is not helpful either.

I have gay friends that I hope come to Christ. They know what I believe but are still my friends and I hope that God uses me to bring them to the same cross as you and I have had to come to.

So very true Sister. Sad thing is, no one wants to hear truth anymore.
