From what you have told us so far it sounds like a no biggie.
He doesn't even know about the band and, unless someone pushes him on it, probably never will.
Pushing him on this would put him in a position where he will be the odd man out (which is not always a bad thing).
Everybody will wear a shirt that means nothing to them and when homecoming comes and goes so will the shirt.
I think this would fall under the category of picking ones battles.
You aren't dealing with a son who is walking around pumping KISS music into his head via earphones all day. You are dealing with a kid who is wearing a shirt for which he has little or no knowledge what it is about or who they are. For some reason somebody probably saw it and thought it was "cool" and so they made the plans.
Currently the shirt is meaningless to him except for their plans to wear it at homecoming. Make a big deal about it... and it ceases to be meaningless.
He knows about the band, but only in the sense of a couple songs (I think they play them in band) and what the members looked like, especially Gene Simmons.
I do agree with you on the 'picking my battles' part. My son isn't objecting my possible objection, but he does want an explanation if I refuse him wearing it. Right now, I don't really have one.

Has he been strutting around the house sticking his tongue way out? If so that would be a symptom of "Gene Simmonitis" and I would be concerned.

Now, if he starts running around, a la Gene Simmons, with his tongue hanging out to the bottom of his chin... we need to get a little concerned. But, until then, if I were the parent, I would probably let it ride.
Are you guys on crack? ROFL! You both are funny!
But seriously Phil, I was hoping you would weigh in on this topic. Thanks.

Every musician knows that this is the mantra for all successful performance... keep it simple stupid! Good grief... don't they teach ya'll nuthin out yonder in CalYfornIA?
I have heard it stands for 'Kids In Satan's Service'. Is that not true?

Well, I thought I knew the answer to this as being no big deal, so I asked him.
He said KISS is the theme of homecoming, and they will be wearing makeup and performing KISS songs.
The plot thickens........
sounds cool...
although Kiss really isn't all that great musically... at least you know the songs won't be overly vulgar or anything (if I remember right KISS tended to not be that vulgar because they wanted to aim it at preteen boys)

Ok dig,
That's some pretty excellent words right there.
I give up, you win the father of the year award for being swift to consider and slow to speak.
Digging, I appreciate you (if it wouldn't make me look like a softy I'd say I love you man, and we could go out to some restaurant and eat quiche)
