Polygamy

Is there scripture that teaches against having more than one wife for the common saint?

What are you fishing for there in Oregon?

Obey the laws of the land. In the USA it is illegial to have more than one wife at a time.

Hey- I like to fish for salmon, steelhead and regular trout. I think my favorite in steelhead though. What about you?

Ok so laws of the land.....In the USA I can have 10 girlfriends and have them living with me in my house and be fine but as soon as I marry them I can get in trouble? lol. What logic!

Also, could you provide me with any scripture about saints only having one wife? I can see all over the bible and world people have been involved in polygamy.

I know a bishop should only have one wife according to the Word. I don't think this would have been mentioned if having more than one wife wasn't common.

Excellent fish! These days I do my fishing at the grocery store, but then I was always better at eating them then catching them.

If you have 10 girlfriends you don't have to wait to get married to be in trouble.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:25 (KJV)

Whenever I have read this, it never left me thinking that "wives" was pluralized for one husband, but now I see your point. Go out immediately and marry those ten gals (just kidding), however, I think one wife and one husband was what God placed in the Garden of Eden, and I suspect that is still the pattern He wants.

I think polygamy is wrong for the Apostolic, but I think the US needs to repeal its polygamy laws. In the southwest there are various polygamous Mormon groups that aren't hurting anyone and that are trying to keep to themselves and raise their families in their belief system. I definately think law enforement needs to step in if teenagers are being forced into marriage in those polygamous groups, but if consenting adults want to practice polygamy, so be it. Having those people live in constant fear of being "found out" and having their compounds raided and whatnot is wrong.

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex

Read it a little closer - - it doesn't say husband, love your wives.......they are both plural.

Kinda reminds me of this saying I heard once,

If being married to two wives is bigamy, and being married to multiple wives is polygamy,
what is being married to one wife called??

Monotony!!!

Still, Solomon had 1,000 wives & concubines?
