I think it is ok to encourage the youth, but if we push it's more likely to cause some to rebel.

Re: Pushing or Praying?
God usually moves into a service through worship. Sometimes people have to be encouraged (like that word better than "pushed") to worship. When they do, very often the spiritual temp of a service changes in a positive way.
Young people need to be encouraged to worship, pray and attend services.
We never had to push our kids to go to church. They loved to go to church. It was never an issue. Thankfully I never had to deal with kids not wanting to go to church when they were living at home.

I was pushed and it was quite an effort but I had to push through as well. Some feel good soft thingy wasn't going to work for me AT THAT TIME...now, that happens a lot and I love it....but there was 1 moment in my life that I had to BREAK through some junk...let's leave it at that. Is that a satisfactory answer your Honor????

I think for some it does. On the other hand, I am thinking that it could also train them to rely on emotion and not on a deep commitment in their heart.
I keep thinking of a time when the instructions had been conveyed to "make a joyful NOISE" to the Lord.
So, struggling one day in prayer I began to clap really loud and began praising the Lord really loud! lol I felt so frustrated. I said, out loud, "Oh, forget it."
I knelt by the bed and simply and quietly said, "I love you Jesus."
His Spirit came in like a flood. So, it was a lesson for me. I'll never forget that.
Perhaps it was only - do what you feel in your heart and don't compare your walk, prayer and worship with others.

Sure, you did your best not to confess in front of the brethren. I'm good with that.
Hmmm, I'm thinking you were a stubborn man, as they all are, and it doesn't come that easy to submit. What do you think about that little statement? Good with that one?

Re: Pushing or Praying?
If you mean the pastor said "get down here NOW or you'll be lost" - - then that's wrong and scaring them to move toward God - - won't last long!

There's a fine line between pushing and encouraging. Some encouragement can feel like a push. There are soft gentle pushes that's more like encouragement and there are aggressive pushes that make you aggravated and stubborn.
It's complicated.

Ecouraged is felt with love and caring.
Pushed is felt with "or else" and will cause them to be stubborn against you.
