The person leading pre service prayer (we have an hour of prayer & a five or ten minute prayer to usher us in) had to push to overcome the nasty attitude in the atmosphere.
We broke through.
Worship started & the worship leader "pushed" a little bit in the singing and everyone
(most everyone) broke through to a mighty worship victory.
There were tongues & interpretation.
Alas, the meeting did not go well. They left in a huff!
I agree, there shouldn't be pushing but in some circumstances it is needed.
BTW, the person who gave the tongues is a 60 sister & this is her first service to do that!!!

Do you think that what your visitors might have been feeling was being overwhelmed and a little scared if they hadn't ever experienced that sort of thing before? It can be a very very heavy duty experience for people not acquainted with Pentecost and that kind of service.
I've heard people tell stories about how scared they were when they came to church for the first time. And how that when they were crying in the altar - it wasn't because of the presence of God - but because they were really absolutely and totally terrified!
It was an eye opener for me to hear someone relate this to me. We take so much for granted having been raised in church or been in church long enough that we're used to the presence of God and the moving of His Spirit.
