You didn't really answer POs question though. PO did not ask if it is commented on through out the bible. PO asked about the difference
There will always be a degree of lazy individuals who live on the system. However, the greater good is to be in view…not the abuser. They are cheating themselves.

Helping poor people does not mean forcing them to remain dependant on the government.
You’re right. Any social assistance should empower as well as provide. Requiring participation in educational programs and/or work programs to build skills and experience with the aim of helping the poor provide for themselves is a must. But this is largely a state issue, not a federal one.

I think we should put something into perspective. Paul wrote,
I Timothy 5:8
"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."
It is most commonly believed that Paul is referring specifically to men (not women, widows, or single mothers) who were exploiting the church’s charity toward the poor. Paul doesn’t forbid them from customarily gleaning the cornfields…Paul forbids that they receive assistance from the church. I feel we could extrapolate this into modern society by refusing to provide assistance to able bodied males.
There is another interpretation that I’ve studied, but unsure of. I Timothy is a Pastoral Epistle. Some have proposed that Paul admonished Timothy regarding lazy preachers who would not work with their own hands but rather lived off the church’s offerings like a sanctified welfare program.

Further, I really find this line about fox news to be a bit ignorant. It was ABC that ran the story and brought it to prominence. NOT Fox news.
Sean Hanity was the first to talk about it, but that isnt "FoxNews" that is one of its talking heads.
Further, having viewed the piece offered in this thread, and agreeing with you that it provides context, I saw noting from FoxNew (or ABC for that matter) that is diametrically opposed to what I saw in the opening post of this thread.
there is no lie. there is no misdirection. there is only the words of one man, in context that show him to be a proponent of Liberation Theology and a bigot to boot. (and B. Hussain Obama sat under this guy and learned the lessons for 22 years)
ABC may have broke the story, but FOX became obsessed with it and played it over and over and over again. Their tactics has been that if they said it enough, people would eventually accept it as truth. Looks like it worked!!!

No. Conceding to the fact that the comments, as presented, are to be denounced. Obama’s eliminating the debate and moving forward. He doesn’t see this as something even worth fighting over because, as can be seen here, struggling to find context is met with retort and rancor.
However, any rational human being would be interested in knowing the overall context of the statements and how the sermon ends. It may sound far worse than it really was.
As they were presented, yes. But I have to be honest…I don’t know the overall context of the statements. FOX isn’t giving me the full sermon, only sound bites. Before issuing a definitive opinion I’d like to hear the entire sermon and judge it as a whole.
That should keep you out of trouble. However, there are preachers who radically confront difficult political issues who often say things that their political adversaries seize upon. Such is life in America. LOL
Well, if Obama is "conceding" he is either acknowleding that the comments were inappropriate, or lying. If he's acknowledging the comments were inappropriate just for the sake of political expediency (and not b/c he truly believes they were inappropriate), that's called "lying" too.
If the context of the comments justifies what Wright said, then Obama should explain the context of the quotes, and why he feels they were justifiably "right" enough for Obama to continue membership in the church. If he just says the comments were "wrong" and moves on, he either believes them to be wrong, or he just wants this issue to go away so he's willing to say something he doesn't really believe.
Preachers who use their pulpit to "radically confront political issues" are abusing the power of the pulpit, whether it's Democrat or Republican.

Actually Chosen, the good Doctor was discussed on this forum more than 6 months ago.
the 10 points talked about in his website, are plenty of context to know what the man believes and to call Obama's judgment in this matter into question.
Some of us say Wrights comments as nothing other than further confirmation of what we already knew.
If Fox did anything at all, they are guilty of repeating a simple truth, repeatedly.

When are you going to understand that any and all behaviour, views, racism, hatred, ignorance, etc is excused for our Black brothers and sisters because of the great injusticies heaped on them?
It is just wrong for us to hold them accountable for being reasonable, logical, factual, loving, and not prejudiced.
The price we must pay for our great, great, great, graeat grandfather possibly being a slave owner or doing some black person wrong is that we must just accept whatever they do or say or believe as RIGHT, no matter how insane, wrong, or offensive it is.
(It is Black leaders like Jeremiah Wright who will see to it that Black folks keep using the excuse of history for their lack of success)
Your post just proves that a man only takes from education that which he wants to.
It also demonstrates how you can hold the most outrageous positions and still be prominent in the black community because you endorse their tightly held victim mentality.
Black "leaders" get away with all sorts of behaviour, statements, opinions, etc that a white person would be crucified for. Which I find is insulting towards Black people in general. It is like one is excusing outrageous behaviour because the person "just don't know any better, bless their little hearts". Very condescending.
Victim Mentality??? Until you walked a mile in a man's shoes....
Are you now the voice-piece for African-Americans, CC1? You sound if there isn't anymore discrimination in America! Have you ever been discriminated against? I think we should let the African-American community speak for themselves! Here is something to evaluate:
-The mass incarceration of black men in our prison systems. America has the largest prison population in history and half of those men are black. The problem is that black people are only 13% of the general population. To the rest of the world, it looks like America has found a way to continue its historical pattern of killing off black men.
-Inadequate legal defense for incarcerated individuals, leading to a higher likelihood of incarceration. The overworked public defender, as hard as he/she may try, does not represent justice for all.
-Longer prison sentences for the same crimes for black men and a disproportionate willingness of our government to kill these men when they are on trial for murder.
-Segregated school systems leading to far worse education for black children. Black boys are nearly five times more likely to be placed in special education (I was one of them and so was my brother) and inner city schools do not get the resources they need.
-The disenfranchisement of individuals with criminal records, denying them the right to vote, and significantly reducing their opportunities for employment for the length of their entire lives. There is no longer such a thing as paying your debt to society. The hands of fascism perpetually garnish your bank account of American freedom and civil rights.
