I hope they don't ruin this years motorcycle riding. As bad as that one hurt hitting me I can't imagine if I ran into a swarm of them.
They are very "solid".
I read that they are attracted to loud noises so it is a good thing I haven't put loud pipes on my bike yet!
I was 20 yr old, going to a job interview back in 90 on a Kawasaki 1100 LTD.....in a light colored shirt.....one of them things hit the thin bar that my mirror mounted to and the locust split..............his guts didn't match my shirt..
they hit my helmet and would sound like someone shot it with a bb gun..

Yikes! I can see that happening because the one that hit me had a very thick body. I would imagine there is a lot og guts to splatter!!!

And remember to keep your mouth closed while riding unless you like the taste of locust. Since John the Baptist liked them with a little honey, they might not taste that bad...........

Ladybugs are migrating and filling the air around Forest Falls, CA, this past few days. Really odd sight.
Back in 2000 we had a problem with the so called ladybugs in Michigan. Actually they were a cross between an Asian beetle and a ladybug. They were breed intentionally to help farmers. They were more problem than any good. We would literally vaccumm up hundreds a day out of doors and windows. You would see swarms all over the yard. They also would bite if they landed on you and stink when you kill them.

Were they more orange colored than red like normal ladybugs? And id they bite? That's what we've been fighting around here for the past few years. They are more than a nuisance! they are a PAIN!

Yes they were more orange and the spots were not uniform like a ladybug. They could of had one to many. The colors also would vary some a very pale orange and others vibrant.
