Would you want me in YOUR church?

Our pastor announced this morning that he is going to resign as pastor of our church and that he will be becoming a missionary. This is not going to happen fast. In fact, he doesn't plan to leave until the end of next May, which will give his oldest daughter time to graduate high school. He, his wife and his other 3 children will be going to Indonesia to serve as missionaries.

Ok, so here's the deal. This is the THIRD pastor I've sat under who has left our church to go to the mission field. Two in the UPC and this one in the Alliance Church?

So what? Am I wearing a t-shirt that says, "I train future missionaries" ? Sure feels that way!

How many of you have ever sat under a pastor who left to go to the mission field? I'm just curious.

Re: Would you want me in YOUR church?

This has only happened to me once many years ago. But more recently, I was a store manager for several years and kept losing my assistant managers as they got promotions to run their own stores. Hurry for them. Pain for me. LOL

Re: Would you want me in YOUR church?

Our pastor and his wife came to us from the mission feilds. His wife grew up on the feild withg upc missionary parents.

Two years ago he announced they had applied to the Foriegn Missions Dept. After 6 years with us our church was shocked to hear this.

They'd really be great teacher on the mission feild as they speak 6 or 7 languages between them.

We are so thankful they were not holy enought to get past the good ol boys at FMD interview.

All they would have had to do was lie and say yes they believe women cutting hair and such stuff was gonna send people to hell.

Hope they stay with us for a good long while.

Be thankful your pastor is going to the mission field. My last pastor left our church then left his wife a few months later for another man.

Re: Would you want me in YOUR church?

I once felt a call to the mission field.

I flet I should buy a houseboat and minister to those who go to the lake every weekend..

It didn't pan out, as I could not get enough PIM's.
