Re: Goths
The Man in Black
Well you wonder why I always dress in black
Why you never see bright colors on my back
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone
Well, there’s a reason for the things that I have on
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down
Livin’ in the hopeless, hungry side of town
I wear it for the prisoner who is long pad for his crime
But is there because he’s a victim of the times
I wear the black for those who’ve never read
Or listened to the words that Jesus said
About the road to happiness through love and charity
Why, you’d think He’s talking straight to you and me
Well, we’re doin’ mighty fine, I do suppose
In our streak of lightnin’ cars and fancy clothes
But just so we’re reminded of the ones who are held back
Up front there ought to be a Man In Black
I wear it for the sick and lonely old
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold
I wear the black in mournin’ for the lives that could have been
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men
And I wear it for the thousands who have died
Believin’ that the Lord was on their side
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died
Believin’ that we all were on their side
Well, there’s things that never will be right I know
And things need changin’ everywhere you go
But ‘til we start to make a move to make a few things right
You’ll never see me wear a suit of white
Ah, I’d love to wear a rainbow every day
And tell the world that everything’s okay
But I’ll try to carry off a little darkness on my back
Till things are brighter, I’m the Man in Black

Why I am asking this question? Because it seems like you are letting us know your beliefs to either make us aware of them, or making an attempt to win converts? I'm not saying the latter is what you are attempting here, but my question is why the thread?
Are you saying that Goth is a religion? A religion that believes in mourning for society's ills, ways, and wickedness? Since you recognize that all life and things die, and realize death is apart of life, what is your view of an after life?
The Rastafarians consider themselves a religion, they as Goths have a look, style, language, and music. Many people copy the look of the Rasta, with the wearing of the dreads, and the colors of the Ethiopian flag, but they do not adhere to the ways of the Rastafari
So, are you saying, that Goth is a religion?
Thank you for your time.

Lol no goth is not a religion in and of itself, just a subculture of people, this is just a standard observational and general outlook held by most goths. That's all, it bears nothing on "religion" (which I'm not), religious that is lol, I'm a Christian, I hate religion.

I didn't consider Goth a religion, although it can be classified as being such.
Subcultures take on the aspect of religion, and therefore you can say that a subculture has its own music, language, attire, and behavior. You said yourself that a "Mall Goth" is not an actual Goth. Therefore you just showed us that within your Goth experience that you have separated yourself from those Goths who fit not the pattern that you and your group prescribe.
You called the "Mall Goths" posers, therefore if they are posers then they are hypocrites, a.k.a "poser."
I asked "Since you recognize that all life and things die, and realize death is apart of life, what is your view of an after life?"
Do you believe in speaking in tonngues and the Spirit gives the utterance?
Do you believe in the water baptism in Jesus name?
Do you paint your fingernails black?

Re: Goths
There is a couple here, @ NLC, who go to Goth concerts and witness to the attenders. They don't go inside, but they do actively talk to passersby. Here is a pic of them after they spoke to our youth. They love the Lord with all their heart and I would love to have 20 more just like them. You would not believe this guy's story of mental abuse as a school boy. It is a miracle that he is alive. We love he and his wife, Ruthy unconditionally and love the acceptance they receive from the folks @ NLC. I really do love these people. They have received the "cold shoulder" from more than one church for being different. They actually asked "permission" to attend and wondered if it would be all right if Goths got saved to bring them to church! So sad, they even had to ask. I told them, "God forbid that someone would come to church seeking Jesus that looks weird!" :

Re: Goths
I am curious, does "Goth" refer to the Gothic architectural period of the late middle ages, or to the Goths of 3rd and 4th century Germanic Tribes?
