The United States wants Abbas' PA to play a central role in the reconstruction effort in Gaza, hoping this will increase its influence in the Hamas stronghold. Washington is also putting pressure on other donors to bolster the Palestinian Authority. Hamas ousted Fatah from Gaza in a bloody 2007 coup.

TEL AVIV, Israel – Hamas is "very happy" with a pledge this week from the Obama administration to provide $900 million in aid for rebuilding the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, a spokesman from the Islamist organization told WND.

"We are very happy with this decision," said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum, speaking by cell phone from Gaza. "In the first place, this money will go toward reconstructing efforts."

Barhoum said he expects the money to be tightly controlled. He said the funds are likely to be delineated to the Palestinian Authority and to the United Nations Relief and Work Agency, or UNWRA, which administers aid to millions of Palestinian "refugees" in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

Hamas has a close relationship with UNWRA; the agency openly employs a large number of Hamas members, including some of the group's most senior terrorists.

Kinda like saying you will give money to rebuuild Gaza but none goes to Muslims.

The Liberals are sure gullible.

You need to do a little reading. I recall when My daughter were involved with issues in sudan and the Muslim unit there. Sudan Muslims snagged christian girls, killed the parents and sold them as sex slaves. In tracing human aid, the food and money trail always gets in the hands of the authorities. They use it for their friends, fellow muslims. Israel has the same problem.

In 2007 an average of 500 trucks a day entered Gaza with food and supplies. In comparison, yesterday, just 36 humanitarian trucks were allowed access to Gaza. With almost the entire population of 1.5 million Gazans dependent on humanitarian assistance, it is obvious that the incoming aid is not even remotely adequate.

Israel whom the democrats seem to hate never seem to get a clue that gaza is totally supplied by the Jews. They use all they can for weapons and do not build farms and raise their own supplies.
Now the Hamas keep shooting at israel and Israel keeps sending more supplies.

The co-founder of the Arab group in question, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, also has held a fundraiser for Obama. .I suspect routing thru the UN will of course have the standard UN scandel moneys removed and then the UN can have their terrorist friends in the strip deal with the rest.

Hillary is just using this for showmanship.
