Two Coral Snakes in one month!

My husband killed a coral snake early one morning this month. He said it was a small snake.

Just now he killed another coral snake that was fairly small. I sure hope the mom and dad are not anywhere around.

I have kids coming next weekend.

Re: Two Coral Snakes in one month!

I killed a small rattler in my driveway a while back. Made me think that there had to be "grownups" around. Never found any sign. But I think the raccoons and skunks around here are like mongooses. Whenever they're around the snake numbers (all kinds of snake) go down.

We live pretty adjacent to a large State Park and get all types of critters. They finally built up the fencing to keep the deer off the road. But foxes and everything else get through. I've seen coyotes in the McDonald's parking lot several times.

Coral snakes though... that's a nasty bite.

Re: Two Coral Snakes in one month!

I almost grabbed one when I was 8. My Great-grandma had a farm outside of Houston (It is Houston now, was country then, greens bayou area)

She had this gate with horse carvings on top, a coral snake was wrapped around one of the horses,my mom grabbed my arm as I was reaching for it.

Re: Two Coral Snakes in one month!

I killed 2 snakes, 4 days ago. Both under brush piles. The 2nd one, I killed with a stick of wood. When I hit it, the guts shot me right in the right eye, no lie. Not on the eye, but IN the eye. It was pretty disgusting. (non-poisonous snake).

Couldnt help but to share that, when I saw the snake thread.

Glad it wasn't poisonous.
